Visitors' Reception

Visitors’ Reception, James Administration building: The ground floor houses reception areas for Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. The building was completed in 2002 and named after former Principal Mrs Josephine James (1989-2002).

Preparatory School Centre

Preparatory Centre: Completed in 2006 at a cost of $4 million. The interactive playground was designed by leading Early Childhood teacher and landscape designer Mrs Prue Walsh. A feature of the centre is the Memory Wall. The School is grateful to those families who purchased “memory” bricks.

Junior School Courtyard

Junior School Courtyard: The covered and landscaped courtyard stretches between Bourne and Fittock buildings. Bourne, built in 1956, is named in honour of the first Principal, Miss Catherine Bourne (1912-1923). Fittock, built in 1959, is after Miss Winifred Fittock, the second Principal (1924-1951).

Davenport
Middle School’s Davenport building: This two-storey teaching block opened in 2002 and was named in honour of Miss Helena Davenport, founder, owner and Principal of Goyte-Lea School and interim Principal of St Hilda’s (1912).

Design And Technology
Senior School Design and Technology hub: Opened May 1996. Houses the heart of the School’s extensive computer network.

Library Quad
Library Quad: A beautifully paved and landscaped courtyard at the entrance to the Senior Library and Reeves building. A feature of the courtyard is a pond over which a copper sculpture depicts dancing brolgas.

Senior Library
Senior Library: Built in 1972 and extended in 1992, the Library was named after Miss Gwendoline Horton, Assistant Mistress (1925-1940) and Principal (1952-1964).

Boarders' Quad
Boarders’ Quad: An elegant paved and landscaped courtyard that is enclosed by the original School building of Whitby, the historic Assembly Hall and the newer Darragh House.

Chapel
The Chapel: Completed in 1962 in the School's Silver Jubilee year. The leadlight windows depict the floral emblems of the School Houses - Acacia, Grevillea, Tristania (Junior Houses) and Banksia, Karragaroo, Melaleuca (Senior Houses).

Pool and Sports Complex
Olympic Swimming Pool and Sports Complex: The 50m pool was completed in 1994. The British Olympic Team trained here in the lead up to the 2000 Olympic Games and HRH Princess Anne visited the School as a gesture of appreciation.
