World Class Sporting Facilities
The St Hilda's School Sports Complex offers both students and the local community excellence in fitness and quality sports training.
The complex is located on the western boundary of the school. Parking is ample and adjacent to the main entrance. The 50M heated outdoor pool has nine competition swimming lanes. The pool is the ideal venue for swimming carnivals, swim meets and water polo and offers disabled access for wheelchairs.
The sports hall has a large spectator seating and viewing area and is fully equipped to cater for a wide variety of sporting clubs and societies. It is most suitable for: Badminton, Basketball, Netball, Indoor soccer, Self defence, Fencing, and Volleyball.
The gymnastic area has world class equipment - bars, balance beams, a vaulting horse and activity mats. It features a sprung floor, a bungee safety rope and a foam pit to assist the teaching of specialist skills.
Health and Fitness
The Sports Complex has a fully equipped fitness centre supervised by qualified staff and offers a variety of electronic cardiovascular equipment (including treadmill, bikes, rowing ergometers, step machines) weight machines and free weights. Staff ensure that clients have a fitness assessment and an exercise program is tailored to meet the individual needs of the client. The fitness centre not only supports the fitness training of competitive student athletes, it also provides for ongoing health related fitness of students. The centre is also open to the public.
Non-School Sporting Groups
The school's classes are scheduled to secure maximum use during school hours and for team training times. The school encourages the use of the complex by outside sporting groups and clubs when it is not being used by the students. Enquires from sporting groups and clubs are welcomed.
The complex is ideal as a training centre. The facility not only provides for sport specific activity; the attached classroom provides for lectures, team building sessions and use of video player. The fitness centre and exercise floor enables fitness and sport rehabilitation activities.
The sport complex and boarding house are ideal for sports and organisations considering live-in training camps which can be conducted during school holiday periods. The facility has been used in this way by both the Australian swim squads and British Olympic and Paralympic swim squads.
Major events have been hosted in the facility including the Asia Pacific Masters Games Badminton, state championships in rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining, and international gymnastics competitions.
