Appointment of Principal

Dear Community and Friends of St Hilda’s

On behalf of The Archbishop of Brisbane, The Most Reverend Dr Phillip Aspinall, and the St Hilda’s School Council, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Wendy Lauman as the 11th Principal of St Hilda’s School.

The last few months have created a significant need for changes to what we would normally expect within our school environment and the appointment of Ms Wendy Lauman as our School Principal will be a continuation of her stabilising influence in our community.

Wendy’s career has focused on the promotion of the specific interests of girls’ education. An experienced leader in Christian girls’ schools, she has guided the interests of young women at Moreton Bay College, and St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School in Brisbane, prior to her appointment as Deputy Principal at St Hilda’s School in 2014. Wendy is a life-long Anglican who is actively involved in the life of the church. Her personal faith, and commitment to the School’s academic vision of equipping young women with the values, knowledge and skills they will need to reach their full potential to serve and shape the world, are well-established in our community. Wendy is married to Dr James Pickles, a retired Physiologist. She has two adult daughters, Miranda and Emma, and two 10-year-old grandchildren, Arwen and Keating. Wendy has had an extensive interest in the performing arts and is an avid reader.

More recently, as the Interim Principal, Wendy has led us through some of the most difficult times St Hilda’s has faced in its history.  Throughout this period, she has shown true steadfastness and the leadership qualities expected from our community.

Please join the School Council and me in congratulating and supporting Ms Wendy Lauman as the 10th Principal of St Hilda’s School, and the 11th in totality including Miss Davenport, the Principal of Goyte-Lea Girls School, 1880–1911.

Yours sincerely

Professor Susan Brandis
