This month the Athena students attended a workshop conducted by our School Counsellor, Mrs Liz Giovas. The workshop was focused on developing time management and organisational skills, topics particularly pertinent to our Athena girls who are learning to balance their academic and training schedules.

Mrs Giovas spoke about triaging to-do lists, creating timetables for study and introduced the girls to bulletin journalling. A bulletin journal is a diary which incorporates both writing and drawing and contains sections to list daily tasks, a calendar, notes, and record progress of both short and long term goals. Journalling can assist the girls with organisation while also helping their physiological and mental health by adding mindfulness activities which assist with relaxation. Focusing on one thing at a time was also a strong message for the girls as was utilising their Student Organiser wisely.

This week the Regional Swimming Trials were held at Gold Coast Aquatics Centre. We congratulate the following girls who attended:

Lili Baumann, Cyra Bender, Ava Brickley, Tylah Crabtree, Georgia Lea’aetoa, Sienna Lea’aetoa, Isabella Lee, Tribeca Liu, Sara McCarthy and Holly Warn.

We look forward to hearing results and the announcement of those who have qualified for the State Championships in late March.

Congratulations to Georgia Lea’aetoa who recently took out the 13 Years Overall Age Champion for the Gold Coast Sprint Championships .

Congratulations to Josephine Hermann on placing 5th in a recent Show Jumping Competition in the 90cm class division on her horse, Dan.
