Athena swimmers competed in the Queensland Short Course Championships with the following great results:

Ava Brickley (Year 11) – 6th 400m Freestyle, 8th 100m Backstroke, 9th 50m Backstroke.
Ava was also selected for the Gold Coast Regional Team and placed 1st in the 200m Backstroke and 4th in the 400m Freestyle in the Inter-regional Challenge.

Tylah Crabtree (Year 10) – 2nd 50m Breaststroke, 3rd 100m Individual Medley, 3rd 100m Breaststroke, 5th 200 Butterfly, 6th 200m Breaststroke, 6th 200m Individual Medley, 7th 200m Backstroke, 7th 100m Backstroke, 7th 50m Backstroke

Ella Hardy (Year 9) – 10th 200m Backstroke

Sienna Lea’ Aetoa (Year 7) – 2nd 100m Backstroke, 6th 100m Individual Medley, 6th 200m Freestyle, 6th 100m Freestyle, 6th 200m Individual Medley, 7th 50m Backstroke, 10th 50m Freestyle

Lucinda Macleod (Year 11) – 7th 100 Individual Medley, 7th 100m Backstroke

Holly Warn (Year 6) – 1st 100m Individual Medley, 3rd 100m Backstroke, 4th 50m Backstroke, 4th 50m Freestyle, 4th 50m Butterfly, 5th 100m Freestyle, 7th 100m Breaststroke

Congratulations to Tylah and Collette on their selection in the Queensland Team.



Mary Palmer (Year 8) – won the Gold Coast Junior Development Series Under 1 Girls Singles event and has been selected to represent the Gold Coast at the Queensland State JDS Finals in Rockhampton. We wish her all the best in this tournament.

Alize Yarwood (Year 8) – won the State Age Championships Singles and Doubles held in Rockhampton in the holiday break. Alize also won the North Queensland Open Age Singles Title held in Townsville. She also took out the Miami Age Singles and Doubles event and Central Queensland Doubles event and placed runner up in the Singles event at this tournament. A busy month for Alize, she also gained her first international ranking points by making the semi-final in the doubles of her first ITF tournament.


Athena athletes spent time in the holiday break competing at the North Queensland State Track and Field Championships in Townsville achieving the following outstanding results:

Hannah Collins (Year 11) – placed first in the Under 18 Triple Jump.

Dior Scholz (Year 9) – placed first in the Under 16 100m, 200m and high jump. Dior set some great times coming very close to breaking the record in the 200m and jumped 1.60m in the high jump event.


Alexia Abela (Year 8) – Congratulations to Alexia Abela on her selection in the Queensland Team for the Triathlon Series. Alexia competed over the weekend placing 3rd in the Queensland Triathlon Series Round 2 held at Raby Bay.


Hannah Collins (Year 11) – won the Champion Rider 15 – 17 years in the Mudgeeraba Show and was also awarded the Shirley Spiller Memorial Trophy for the overall Supreme Champion Rider in the Show. Hannah rode Farleigh Kingston to place as a finalist in the Queensland Horse of the Year Show.
