Our girls are certainly ready for the forthcoming break and as I write, much excitement pervades the atmosphere in the Houses – it has been a long term of hard work, activities, co-curricular commitments.  It has been a warm, dry winter on the Coast and the holidays will, we hope, restore our energy for an exciting Term 4. I know all the girls are looking forward to either home, or a break elsewhere to renew and relax. Families will be looking forward to having the girls home also.

This year sees our Year 11 girls take over Leadership responsibilities in Term 4 in the School, including the Boarding School. As I write, we eagerly await the announcements of our new leaders for 2019, which will occur in a special Principal’s Assembly on Thursday afternoon. On behalf of the girls and staff I would like to thank Chiara Hilson, Head Boarder, for her leadership this year – a quiet leader, Chiara has brought her strong commitment to social justice to our community this year. Her ability to view situations and issues from different perspectives has been appreciated and we wish Chiara well as she works and travels next year, before settling to study in 2020.

At the end of August our Yalari Scholars in Year 12, Jada Davui and Lenka Rivers attended Yalari Graduation at Parliament House Canberra and then enjoyed a weekend skiing in the Snowy Mountains. Jada and Lenka, we are so proud of the young women you have become and we wish you all the very best in your chosen pathways. Thank you for the time you have been in our Boarding community.

Mrs Rigby and I enjoyed our visit to Goondiwindi and Weengallon to attend Pink Ladies Day at the end of August. We love to get out to see our families and spend time with them – catching up for dinner or lunch and sharing stories and listening to ideas, questions and suggestions. Congratulations to a number of our parents involved in Pink Ladies Day, especially Emma Montgomery – President. It was truly a fabulous day!

We will hold our annual Boarding Photo Challenge in Term 4 and we hope the girls will return with special photos of “what home means to me”. You might assist your daughter by talking about what shot might capture or represent the essence of her home.

During Term 4 our girls will have the opportunity to participate in, and contribute to life in Boarding through joining various committees: Big Sisters, Service, Christmas Dinner, Guest Speakers and Formal Dinners and Global Interactions. Girls from all years are welcome to join and work together for some exciting developments in Boarding. Please encourage your daughters to be involved. We hope you enjoy a few more photos representing our activities this term.

Have a wonderful holiday break with the girls, and we in Boarding look forward to welcoming everyone back for a short Term 4, with the first weekend hosting the School Fete – where has the year gone?!
