Welcome to Term 3! Our Houses are now noisily full of laughter, activity and teenage girls! We welcomed the girls back last week after three weeks of relaxation, restoration, and for some, work at home, contributing to family and community.

We have also extended a warm Boarding welcome to two new Boarders – in Year 6 and Year 10 – and three girls on Exchange, all of whom will enrich our community. These new girls and our new staff were welcomed in Chapel and at our first Boarding meeting of the term on Sunday evening, where they also joined their Boarding Families in a Trivia competition.

The girls have settled quickly into their routines of rowing, sport, music and study, with Year 11s having tests in Week 3 – and we are also in the Athletics season, with the Inter-House competition on Thursday and a number of Boarders competing at Regionals, too. Term 3 will fly by with all this activity!

The Gala Concert held last Saturday was a special evening, with a number of Boarders performing and sharing their talents and beautiful music which was greatly appreciated by the audience. Congratulations, girls on a wonderful concert.

A highlight of the beginning of term would have to be the Induction of 2019-20 Prefects in a ceremony which featured the 2018-19 Prefects handing over to the next “generation”…what is very special is that the 2018-19 Prefects will mentor the new Prefects for Term 3, sharing their experiences and their learning. We thank sincerely our 2018-19 Boarder Prefects, ably led by Ailsa Hurford as Head Boarder, for their continuing contribution to Boarding. We are proud to welcome thirteen Boarders as Prefects and our new Head Boarder, Fiona Chen. We know they will appreciate their mentors and prepare to lead us from Term 4.

We look forward to seeing parents and families at the many activities which are on this term, including the Bush to Beach Bash on 16 August, rowing regattas, sport and your visits to the Coast. Whilst this term seems a long one, it is sure to fly by, especially when the girls embrace all that is on offer for them.
