Welcome to Term 2 in Boarding! Our houses were filled with laughter and smiles on Tuesday with girls, families and staff returning from holidays to a special week with ANZAC Day and also the School Fete.
Boarders were a strong part of the School contingent marching in the Southport ANZAC Day March and attending the Service held at Broadwater Parklands. We were very proud of our girls who acknowledged with gratitude, the sacrifices of those who have given of themselves to preserve our way of life and contribute to others experiencing the same fortunate opportunities.
The BPSG held the traditional kebab stall at the Fete on Saturday, with delicious satay chicken kebabs and lamb kebabs on sale. I would like to thank Stall Co-ordinator, Sharon Hannon, for her hard work in organising and running the stall, ably assisted by numerous Boarder parents and supporters, including Day Girl parents and Gullotta Orthodontics. Our parents were certainly busy, and their support was greatly appreciated. This is a great way for Boarder parents to meet each other and enjoy each other’s company.
The girls have thrown themselves into sport training already, with some QG games being held last Friday, and Rowing training commencing. It does not take long for routine and activity to take place in Boarding! We are currently planning for National Boarding Week, to be held 12 May-18 May this year.
Head of Admissions, Mrs Fleur Brooks and I will be travelling to Toowoomba, Dalby, Roma, St George and Goondiwindi this week, attending the Goondiwindi Show, also. We are looking forward to catching up with families along the way and learning more about our families’ lives on the land and in country towns.
At the beginning of June, Dr Wilson Reynolds and I will be travelling to Cloncurry, Julia Creek and then on to Charters Towers for the Queensland ICPA Conference – we are looking forward very much to meeting up with our families of the North and to coming to understand more about what they have been facing in recent months. Our prayers remain with all families who are facing challenges at present.
One of our major activities this term is the Mother’s Day Classic – we usually have a large contingent of Boarders and families joining the St Hilda’s team and we encourage you to participate this year too! Details can be found below (click the image to be taken to the registration page). We would love to see you there!
Save the Date: the BPSG Bush to Beach Bash, with TSS BPSG will be held on Friday, 16 August. Further details will be available soon.
We look forward to a happy, community-minded and productive term.
