Just last week, Mr Crawley asked some of us to think about our big picture idea for the area we work in. I have been thinking about how to describe the spirit of what I have been trying to build or develop in my role as Chaplain.
First, as the Chaplain of an Anglican school it has been important to me that all we do has been within the fold of the Anglican Church, and whilst it may not seem like it to those who are used to a more liturgical style, I can assure you we have held to Anglican liturgy and theology.
Second, there has been a twofold approach with the girls. One part of the approach has been to provide the girls with a place and a space for their voice and another equally significant part has been to imbue that voice with values echoing those of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.
This week for my last video I have chosen to share with you a clip of me trying to teach girls in Year 3 to safely light candles, in preparation for a Taize inspired service. I feel it encompasses so much of the relationships that exist between students today and the staff at a school like St Hilda’s School.
