Hello and welcome back to St Hilda’s Music for 2022!

Our musicians from Years 2-12 have had a slightly delayed start to their musical year but this week has seen all ensembles back up and running and making great sounds. Our Head Day Girl, Poppy-Jane Todd, has been very quick off the mark also and written an outstanding article to inspire our Performing Artists in 2022.

You can read Poppy-Jane’s article HERE

Changes to Note
It is very exciting to see the demolition of the Granowski Building which means the new Performing Arts Building will soon be rising before our eyes. As a result of this, due to extra noise and dust, the Senior Music/Drama Office has relocated to the Horton (Visual Arts) Building – we are in the gallery on the left as you walk up the stairs from Central Quad should you need Mrs Julie Haines-Gould to attend to any queries that you have.

On 21 February we will be welcoming a new Music Team member – Mrs Shari Willner. Mrs Willner is an experienced music classroom teacher with a particular passion for teaching lower primary students. She also has exceptional skills in choral music, piano and clarinet/saxophone which will make her a fantastic addition to St Hilda’s. She will be teaching classroom music Pre-Prep-Year 2, accompanying Years 4-6 Choir, conducting Years 2-3 Choir and Junior Concert Band (with Mrs Emery) and teaching a number of our students clarinet, saxophone and piano. Please make her welcome when you see her.

Extra Subject Music Lessons
All students should receive at least their first lesson during Week 5 (21-25 Feb).  If your daughter has not yet received a lesson time and you have completed an enrolment form, accepted terms and conditions and completed payment of Semester 1 fees on Parent Lounge, please contact Mrs Julie Haines-Gould in Senior Music Administration on 55777 235.

Parents and students are reminded that even if continuing lessons from last year, all girls must submit a new “Extra Subject – Music” Enrolment at the start of each year in order to ensure a lesson time is allocated to them.  Please note that advance payment of fees for each semester is required before lessons can commence. A link to the enrolment form is available on the School Website under Parent Resources and linked HERE for your reference.

Ensemble Rehearsal Times
All Choirs and Instrumental Ensembles will have commenced their rehearsals by 17 February.  The times and days for rehearsals are noted below.  To get your daughter involved in music ensembles, please accept the invitation to join music ensembles on Parent Lounge. It is never too late to join a music ensemble, so please encourage you daughter to attend.
