Performances End of Term 3 and Beginning of Term 4

St Hilda’s musicians rang out the old term and brought in the new with performances at a variety of occasions:

  • It was great to see soloists back performing for parents and friends at a Twilight Concert in the Chapel on Tuesday, 15 September and also this week on Tuesday, 13 October. The Chapel’s beautiful acoustics added to the works presented by singers, pianists, saxophone and string players from Years 1-12, many of whom are preparing for upcoming AMEB examinations.
  • The first week of the term saw our musicians contributing to both the 2021 Prefect Induction Service and Ms Lauman’s Commissioning Service. Congratulations to Senior String Ensemble and Senza Ragazzi on their outstanding performances that added greatly to the sense of occasion for both of these events.
  • Big Band and Rhythm & Blues Band have also presented lunchtime concerts this term and Middle-Senior Concert Band is due to perform this week also.

State Honours Ensemble Program at Qld Conservatorium in September Holidays

During the September Holidays, St Hilda’s musicians were represented in both the Australian and State Honours Ensemble Program, run through Queensland Conservatorium’s Open Conservatorium in Brisbane. They participated in workshops and a final concert alongside many other musicians showcasing the breadth and depth of artistic talent being nurtured by teachers, parents and schools throughout Queensland. In the next Newsletter, we’ll highlight the achievements of these girls further.

Co-Curricular Awards – Music and Launch of the 2020 Virtual Gala Concert

We look forward to seeing our musicians this Friday evening at 6.30pm in the Jennifer Reeves Cafeteria for the Music Awards component of the annual Co-Curricular Awards Evening. Although we are unable to have parents present, we hope the girls are all in attendance to enjoy the celebration of their achievements during 2020. The Awards will be recorded for parents to watch after the event.

We are also hoping to launch our Virtual Gala Music Concert “2020 Vision” this Friday and hope you will all watch this epic recording of our School Music Ensembles.
