NIDA is coming to St Hilda’s!

We are thrilled to be once again host the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) Open program in the January 2019 holidays.

NIDA will be running a range of workshop intensives at St Hilda’s between 14 -19 January 2019 suitable for students in Years 3- 12, and for adults 18+.

Courses on offer include:

  • Introduction to Acting, Grades 3-6 – Take your first step into the spotlight with this fun and practical, one day introduction to acting. Experiment with improvisation, acting and character development, then road-test your new silks on a short contemporary script.
  • Introduction to Acting, Grades 7-12 – Take your first step into the spotlight with this fun and practical, one day introduction to acting. Experiment with improvisation, acting and character development, then road-test your new silks on a short contemporary script.
  • Stage and Screen School, Grades 3-6 – Spend a week exploring performance for both stage and screen in this practical introduction to acting. Develop skills in improvisation, text analysis and script work then apply these skills to an on-screen performance. This course includes a session on auditions and screen tests. Present live and recorded scenes at the end of the week for family and friends.
  • NIDA’s Acting Project, Grades 11 and 12 – Experience the core principles of NIDA actor training. Collaborate with a NIDA tutor to create voice, movement and devised performance projects. This course results in a presentation demonstrating all three areas to an invited audience including family and friends.
  • Stage and Screen School, Grades7-10 Spend a week exploring performance for both stage and screen in this practical introduction to acting. Develop skills in improvisation, text analysis and script work then apply these skills to an on-screen performance. This course includes a session on auditions and screen tests. Present live and recorded scenes at the end of the week for family and friends.
  • Musical Theatre School, Grades 7-10 – A comprehensive course for committed young people with a passion for singing, acting and dancing. Collaborate with a singing tutor and choreographer to develop a solo and ensemble performance of popular musical theatre works. Present your work for your friends and family at the end of the course.

As part of our partnership with NIDA we have a total of 4 scholarships on offer to attend the courses.
