In the wake of the recent devastating floods in North West Queensland, a number of Middle School students have expressed a desire to assist the communities affected by this disaster. Year 9 girls have taken the initiative to organise a raffle to support Cloncurry-based charity, Sisters of the North, to distribute funds directly into affected communities, using a grassroots approach. The funds will be distributed through Live Voucher, an SMS service to allocate funds using vouchers, that can be redeemed as goods and services at registered businesses in affected communities. These vouchers will support recipients in need, but also inject funds back into the local business in these shires.
Students will be selling raffle tickets at school and tickets are also available from the Middle School Centre. Should you wish to pay by credit card please contact Community Liaison Officer, Mrs Simone Crowther by phone on 07 5577 7261 or email email@example.com. The raffle will be drawn at the School Fete on Saturday 27 April, with the winners notified by telephone.
We would like to acknowledge the generous support of our sponsors – Ultiqa Hotel & Resorts, Bemboka, R.M. Williams and the St Hilda’s School Parent Volunteer Groups.
Your support of the girls’ efforts to raise much needed funds for these flood affected communities, would be greatly appreciated.
