On Wednesday 22 July, we held our Inter-House Athletics Carnival at a new venue in Runaway Bay. It was so exciting to finally get out there and participate in sport, after a long absence due to COVID. The atmosphere was buzzing on the day and it was so thrilling to see so many girls getting involved whether competitively or just for fun. I’ll remember this day as one of my favourite Athletics Carnivals of my high schooling career as it made me happy to see so much School spirit. A highlight of the day for me was the Staff vs Students Relay and the Boarders vs Day Girls Relay. Although the Staff won the relay, it was so much fun to compete against them, but they should be warned for next year as we will be sure to get some extra training in!

Winter Fixtures Round 2: Hockey

Senior A 2 St Aidan’s WIN 6-0 Eve Deshon Harriett Richards

It was a fantastic game with some pretty incredible plays by the girls! Our first goal was scored by Ella Brenac within 5 minutes and was set up by Eve Deshon and Abbey Porter who moved the ball up the field. We were at 5-0 by half-time, with goals scored by Ella, Abbey, Fern Deshon and Harriett Richards. Harriett played incredibly during the game, working well to keep the ball consistently in the top quarter of the field. We had multiple shots into the goal during offensive short corners, with one straight shot in by Fern in the first half of the game. Even though it was a bit wet and we had a few slips and slides, it was a great game and one of the largest win margins we’ve ever had as a Senior Team! I am very excited to see what else we can achieve as a team and am looking forward to the rest of what is shaping up to be an amazing season.

8A 2 St Aidan’s WIN 2-1 Meili Deng Sage Gallagher
7A 2 St Aidan’s WIN 3-0 Eva Brinsmead Maki Undi
7B 2 St Aidan’s WIN 3-0 Georgie Kruger Piper Campbell

Although it has been a stranger start to the season than what we are used to, it was great to see everyone so enthusiastic at our first home game. We had an incredible five wins this weekend in the Senior As, 9As, 8As, 7As and 7Bs with very close matches for the 10As and Opens teams. A massive congratulations must go to all girls in Year 7 as they played with such enthusiasm and spirit, despite this being their first-ever game. A special shout out must go to Sophia Paterson, in Year 11, who was amazing on the court with her game saving blocks. Off the court, the Opens girls were fantastic with their cheering, encouragement and leadership skills which helped to encourage our younger players.
