St Hilda’s Foundation launch Rebecca Wilson Alumni Grant for Journalism
At the 2017 Business Luncheon, the St Hilda’s Foundation announced the Rebecca Wilson Alumni Grant for Journalism in partnership with News Corp.
Renowned sports columnist and broadcaster, St Hilda’s Old Girl Rebecca Wilson was a trailblazer in Journalism who paved the way for those to come. The Rebecca Wilson Alumni Grant provides a Year 11 Student with the opportunity to further their journalistic pursuits over the final two years of their schooling, including an internship at News Corp with further opportunity to be shortlisted for a cadetship following graduation and a monetary gift. The winner of the inaugural grant will be announced at the beginning of the new school year.
The inaugural recipients of the Alumni Grant were announced at the 2018 St Hilda’s School International Women’s Day Assembly. Congratulations to Georgia Welch and Candice Simpson! Both girls inspired and impressed our panel of selectors throughout the rigorous selection process.
Candice and Georgia were presented their awards by special guest and NewsCorp representative, Rachel Hancock, Deputy Editor of The Courier Mail and The Sunday Mail. We were also privileged to share the announcement with Marylou Wilson, Old Girl, former St Hilda’s Staff member and mother of Rebecca.
