When charged with selecting the 2018 Musical, we couldn’t help but be drawn back to the Yellow Brick Road and the adventures of Dorothy and her best friend Toto. The Wizard of Oz is a timeless story and classic example of Musical Theatre. The story is grand in scale and offered exciting challenges for our performers, musicians and production teams as they endeavoured to bring the Merry Old Land of Oz alive.
We have been delighted with the passion, engagement and growth of our students. They have all emulated Dorothy dancing down a path outside of the familiar, learning new skills, forming strong friendships and overcoming challenges. Being a part of the School Musical provides our students with the unique opportunity to not only make wonderful memories, but to learn life lessons about teamwork, persistence, problem solving, commitment, gratitude, empathy and grit.
It takes a large team in a plethora of roles to bring the Musical to the stage and we thank the many staff, students, parents and alumni who have volunteered their time and talents to support the production. It has been a delight to work with Maree Field and MacDougal (Toto) once again and we thank them for being a part of the St Hilda’s Performing Arts community.
We hope you enjoyed The Wizard of Oz!
