Welcome to Junior School

Inspiring women is not only our aspiration for our students but also our inspiration.

St Hilda’s Junior School focuses on the development of the whole child; encouraging and guiding students to achieve their personal best, in a happy, safe and learning focused environment.

Our broad curriculum is based around holistic values and provides opportunities to discover what motivates and inspires each and every girl.   The rigorous academic program is complemented by the development of non-academic character skills such as grit, tenacity and perseverance. Staff and students work collaboratively to set learning goals, develop an understanding of how they function most effectively in the learning process and act on feedback in order to activate next level learning challenges.

In addition to the fundamentals of literacy, numeracy and technology, students create and collaborate as they engage in specialist subject learning from experts in Art, Health & Physical Education, Music, Drama, Dance, Religious Education and French. Students in year 6 also learn Japanese. Students from years 3 to 6 receive instrumental music lessons in addition to regular music classes.

Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) project-based learning occurs weekly, allowing students the opportunity to explore in detail their chosen project.  Working with peers from year 3 to year 6, students select from a broad range of options including bridge building, creating soundtracks, cracking codes and designing and creating in the Laser Lab.

Our modern facilities and picturesque grounds including the 50m pool, gymnasium, STEAM room and child-centric playgrounds provide quality venues that enhance learning, ignite imagination and motivate students to challenge themselves and to learn from others.

Anglican traditions, our School motto, Non Nobis Solum – not for ourselves alone, and our values of Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Hope and Grace are interwoven into all aspects of School life and relationships within the School community.

The broader school community is caring, friendly and engaged. This can easily be seen in the afternoons where playgrounds are full of parents interacting, children playing or involved in one of the many co-curricular activities.  Families are welcomed and encouraged to be an active and vital partner in their daughter’s education.

A school where every girl matters, St Hilda’s School is an exciting place for girls to learn, grow, dream and achieve. I look forward to discussing with you the many dimensions of the St Hilda’s School environment.

Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Hope, Grace
