From the Principal - September 2024
It has been an immensely positive Term 3, with our St Hilda’s girls engaged in their learning, their co-curricular activities and sporting and cultural pursuits with great dedication and success. There have been a multitude of student achievements to celebrate, and I encourage you to explore all newsletter entries which detail the wonderful efforts of our girls.
The strong sense of belonging and connection within our community is driven by the enthusiasm and commitment of our St Hilda’s girls and families. Thank you to our parents and carers who continue to support our St Hilda's girls to be so involved in life-wide learning.
Across their learning journey our girls are developing as capable, confident and articulate young women who sit comfortably into their strengths and who pursue their personal best achievements in all endeavours.
What a joy it has been to celebrate Year 9 Student, Holly, as she competed at the Paris Paralympics and indeed all of our St Hilda’s School OGA Olympians and Paralympians over the past few weeks, including those who are working as key support staff for the athletes and the Games.
A special mention must go to our Year 12 Seniors who have continued to set a stellar example this term. Beyond their academic pursuits, and regular co-curricular involvements, Year 12 girls raised more than $55,000 for the annual Cancer Council Ponytail Project. We thank both the girls and our families for living our school motto, Non Nobis Solum – Not for ourselves alone, in their support of this incredible initiative. In these final few weeks of learning for our Year 12s, I pray that they feel the support of the School community as they prepare for and complete their external examinations.
The final Term 3 Assemblies for Junior and Senior Schools were true celebrations of the diverse opportunities to shine across our School. I congratulate all our girls for living our values every day.
The deep connection of the sisterhood of St Hilda’s was evident as we announced our 2025 Year 12 Student Leaders. As I shared with the girls, they are walking in the footsteps of generations of remarkable St Hilda’s girls and their desire to lead and serve will be a blessing for our community next year.
It is my pleasure and privilege to share with you our Senior Prefects, Prefects and Co-Curricular Captains for 2025. As they begin their Senior journey, I pray that this is a memorable time for our 2025 Year 12s, and that they approach their studies and involvement in school life with a sense of joy, and a commitment to being true to themselves and to our St Hilda’s values of Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Hope and Grace. Congratulations, girls.
This term work has progressed with the Master Planning for the Boarding House project, and over the break the dining hall will be upgraded. We have announced the Pool renovations and High Performance Gym upgrades as the other major works. We anticipate the Gym equipment to arrive next term and intend for the Pool works to occur from late April 2025. A new Master Plan for the next decade of growth at St Hilda’s School will commence in 2025 – there are very exciting times ahead for St Hilda’s School.
